This
7 x 5 inch plaque came about in unusual circumstances. Terry
received a phone call from an elderly lady who was an admirer
of his fox enamels. Her grandfather had carried out one of
the first field studies on foxes, she had foxes that visited
her garden and visited an animal sanctuary that cared for
injured foxes. She was recently out of hospital after a major
operation and wondered if Terry could paint her something
with foxes on china to boost her spirits a little.
Being
the kind man he is, Terry wanted to help and suggested a small
plaque with a moonlit scene. As he had a lot of other pieces
he wanted to get on with he didn't want to make this a normal
edition of ten pieces and in the end only painted two. To
keep the design work simple he used the same concept of moonlit
foxes in a birch woodland as he had used on his Foxes bowl
for Moorcroft Enamels (as self-employed artists Elliot's artists
retain the copyright on their designs themselves).
Framed
in a gold moulding he duly sent the plaque to the lady, who
was highly delighted with it. It is not difficult to see why!
